Redeem a Binance gift card right away: anyone holding the code can use it

How to redeem in the app and on the website, what the redemption code and the card number are each for, how expiry differs for cards created before and after 10 April 2024, how to claw back a card sent to the wrong person, and why you add a card before passing it on.

Anyone who has the 16-character redemption code of a Binance gift card can redeem it, and until you redeem the card or add it to your own account, the person who sent it can redeem it too. Once a code reaches you, redeem it straight away, or at least add the card to your account first. Redemption is only open to verified accounts, and cards created on or after 10 April 2024 also carry a 6-month validity period.

Redeeming in the app and on the website

Binance's Help Center article How Do I Redeem a Gift Card on Binance? states that "only verified Binance users can redeem gift cards on Binance." If your account isn't verified yet, keep the code to yourself for now; until you redeem or add the card, the code the sender holds still works. Binance Help Center, How Do I Redeem a Gift Card on Binance?, as of October 2026: only verified users can redeem, and the app route starts at [More] - [Gift Card]

Redeeming in the app:

  1. Tap [More] - [Gift Card].
  2. Under the [Redeem] tab, choose [Redeem to crypto].
  3. Enter the 16-character redemption code and tap [Redeem].

Redeeming on the website: log in, scroll to the very bottom of the page and click [Gift Card], then enter the 16-character redemption code and click [Redeem].

Either way, the funds are credited to your Spot or Funding Wallet straight away, as a whole. A card you have already added to your account can be redeemed later without typing the code again. For the other ways money usually gets into an exchange account, see Funding an exchange for the first time: bank transfer / P2P.

Keep the redemption code private; the card number can be shared

A Binance gift card comes with two strings, and the Help Center spells out what each one is for:

Redemption codeCard number
Redeems the card or adds it to your accountChecks the card's balance and status
Should be kept private: anyone with it can redeem the cardCan be shared with others
Redeeming means entering the 16-character codeChecking expiry on the app's Gift Card page means entering the 16-digit card number

The code can move the card; the number can only look at it. Both run to 16 characters, so length won't tell them apart. When a card arrives, work out which string is which before deciding which one is safe to pass around.

Avoiding scams · our advice

Don't post a screenshot of the code in a group chat, and don't give it to anyone calling themselves "support". If someone asks you to send the code so they can "verify it for you", the moment it leaves your hands they can redeem it. If you genuinely need someone to confirm whether the card has been redeemed, give them the card number only.

The sender can still redeem until you add the card

Once a card reaches you there are two options: redeem it on the spot, or add it to your account and redeem it later. For security reasons, the Help Center suggests doing one or the other as soon as the card arrives.

Adding a card changes who owns it. Once it is in your account you become the card's owner and its code changes, so nobody holding the old code can add or redeem it.

Until you add it, though, the original sender can still redeem the card. In the Help Center's own words: "Therefore, please redeem Binance Gift Cards immediately after receiving them."

So for every day the code lies unused with you, at the very least the sender can still touch it; and if the code was forwarded to you, everyone who saw it along the way also holds a working code. That gap only closes when you add the card and the old code stops working.

Cards bought from third-party merchants work the same way. Gift cards can be bought from the merchants listed on Binance's website, but Binance states that it does not endorse any of them, that buyers should use their own discretion with independent merchants, and that it has no liability in connection with the sale or purchase of gift cards. Once the card is in your account, any copy of the old code the seller kept is useless.

Cards created on or after 10 April 2024 expire after 6 months

Whether a card expires depends on the day it was created:

  • Created before 10 April 2024: no expiry date.
  • Created on or after 10 April 2024: valid for 6 months.

The two Help Center pages word this boundary slightly differently. The redemption page says "on and after 10 April 2024", while How to Buy or Send Binance Gift Cards? says cards "minted after 10 April 2024" are valid for 6 months from the date of creation. The gap only matters for cards created on 10 April 2024 itself: by the redemption page they fall in the 6-month group and would have expired around October 2024; by the buy-and-send page they fall outside the 6-month rule. If you happen to hold a card created that day, check its expiry with the card number as described below. As both pages read in October 2026, any card bought or sent today falls in the 6-month group.

To see how long your card has left, there's no need to dig through chat history for the creation date: enter the 16-digit card number on the Gift Card page in the Binance app and the expiry date appears. This step takes the card number; the redemption code isn't needed. Neither help page says what happens to the funds on a card once it expires.

The redemption page lists two more limits. Gift cards are not reloadable, so you can't add funds to an existing card; and they can only be redeemed in full, with the whole amount credited to your Spot or Funding Wallet at once. As for which coins a gift card can hold, the redemption page says most cryptocurrencies listed in the Funding Wallet are supported.

Sent to the wrong person, or passing a card on

A gift card can't be withdrawn once sent. If it went to the wrong email address or person, you can go to [User], find the card and tap [Redeem] yourself, as long as the recipient hasn't added or redeemed it yet.

Cards you created or bought are listed under [User] - [Transfer History] in the Binance Gift Card Marketplace. The fix only works while the other side hasn't acted: once you've shared the redemption code and they've redeemed or added the card, you can't get it back. If you spot a mistake, redeem the card back to your own account from Transfer History first, then contact the person and explain.

Sending works like this in the app: [More] - [Gift Card] → [User], which lists every gift card you own; tap the one you want to give, then [Send]. You can send by text (copy just the code, or the entire message), by email (you can add a message and preview it before sending), or straight to the email address or phone number the recipient's Binance account is registered with. For the last two, checking the address character by character against what the recipient gave you is far less hassle than fixing it later in Transfer History.

If you receive a card you don't want, you can send it on to someone else, but you have to add it to your account first; sending it then generates a completely new code. The code you originally received changed the moment you added the card, so the copy left in your chat history can no longer be redeemed.

Fees, verification and partial redemption

Is there a fee to redeem a gift card?
The redemption page says sending and redeeming are free of charge at the moment, and that fees may apply when gift cards are created. The buy-and-send page puts it as: free of charge for users at the moment, though fees may apply to specific services.

Do I need to verify my identity before redeeming?
Only verified Binance users can redeem gift cards on Binance. Until your verification is done, keep the code to yourself; the code in the sender's hands still works. New cards are only valid for 6 months, so don't leave verification too long.

Can I redeem part of a gift card?
No. A card can only be redeemed in full, and the amount goes into your Spot or Funding Wallet in one go. Cards can't be topped up either.
